WHAT IS NEXT ?

MIKE STAPLETON PHOTOGRAPHY
Hopefully soon i will be work with RAW photography  (http://rawphotographystudio.com/) some educational videos on how to use LR5 and photoshop within my workflow style so keep an eye out for that.

Even though my landscape /Seascape  Photos are stunning and beautiful ( i know i sound like a big headed git) but they are good even though i say so myself they don't sell as well as family portrait shoots, and after 18 months of me sitting here saying to the wife why doesn't anyone want to buy these
i have set up a whole new branch of the business and put together a mobile studio with lighting systems and backdrops that can be set up in your home within 1/2 hour,
  • if you want some stunning classic monochrome low key family portraits.
  • couples romantic or intimate portraits
  • TFP/TFCD with models
  • i have an image which is going to be auctioned for R.N.L. I. by Palm FM our local radio station
  • I will be having some upcoming youtube tutorials on my youtube channel

WW2 D Day

WW2 D-Day

Two of the rare examples of WW2 D-Day landing craft loading ramps can be found at Brixham and Torquay, in S.Devon.

Sixty-eight ramps, or hards, were built along the south coast for loading the Landing Craft Tanks (LCTs) that were to be used for the D-Day invasion of Normandy in 1944.

The ramps at Torquay and Brixham were four-berth hards. Across these ramps troops embarked into Landing Craft for the pre D-Day excercises ( like Exercise Tiger) and over which the US 4th Infantry Division embarked on 5th June 1944 on their way to UTAH BEACH, as part of Operation Overlord, the D-Day landings.

Annoyingly; neither Brixham nor Torquay town museums have anything about the GIs in Torbay during WW2. The best place for information is at Brixham Battery.

The LCT ramps at Brixham have faired better, and now form part of the marina. The Torbay inshore lifeboat still launches from these ramps. There is a small plaque to the part the ramps played during WW2 at the entrance to the breakwater itself.

English Heritage have now listed the US Army built 1943 Brixham Outer Harbour LST Hard and Slipway, stating that "....it was one of the best examples of its kind left in the UK".

That's all the technical information taken care of and below you'll find a image taken in 1944 of the American troops loading the troopships in readiness to D-Day  and the image below that one at I took last night my plan was to overlay the two images that this is the closest position I could get, my new conclusion being that the 1944 image was taken from the platform which no longer exists.
Anyway I was stood there with my camera tripod lining up the image of the best my memory and it suddenly occurred to me how many troops have actually left this slip away and never actually returned and what surprised me even more was this wave of emotion that came over me at that precise moment, I think it was a realisation 70 years ago this last weekend how many thousands of troops actually left.

Taken last night June 1 2014

The Berry Head Hotel in Brixham, South Devon, is set in a superb waterside position enjoying spectacular views of the English Riviera.

Surrounded by six acres of grounds in the seclusion of the Berry Head Country Park, yet only a short walk from the picturesque fishing port of Brixham.

I usually prefer HDR but couldn't resist this 5 shot Pano from the other night hope you like

G+

It was Friday Evening, not a normal one(for those of you that didn't know the wife and i are foster carers) and we had not long taken delivery of a young brother and sister for about a week, well we had the youngest up in the cot and the elder one was sat on the settee watching Emmerdale with us  for the non uk crowd that a soap opera,
The phone rang and its the land line not the mobile and an unknown number at that, well i dont usually answer those at that time of day but it might have been a social worker.

It wasn't it was one of my G+followers how many of you have actually had one of your G+ follower phone you ?

after the initial hello i don't know you are you sure you have the right number, and listening to what she was saying ( Hello Tania ) my newest fan telling how wonderful my photos are and how she wished she could take photos like that and where she lived and where she was moving too.i soon figured out she was either pissed or on medication prescribed or non prescribed , i not quite sure.

then the conversation went round in circles about twice  where she lived where she was moving to the fact that she was a supporter of surfers against sewage ( which is a good cause) as i like a bit of surfing every now and then,

after gently reminding her she could infact buy any of them from the website, not really sure she was with it enough made my excuses as we had to put the second child to bed,

like i said not the usual Friday Night in more ways than one

so this one is for TaniaGeorge Kelly on G+ thanks for the compliments just send an email next time though thanks great talking to you.

this is Byron bay at sunset last March

Beach Monsters

Ninety Mile Beach
This drift wood was as i found it on an early morning walk
The image conjured up by the very name is enough to inspire you to visit and the 90 mile stretch of pristine golden sand that separates the Gippsland Lakes from the Bass Strait will not disappoint.
Marine life in this area is heavily abundant and an amazing 860 different species were discovered living in just ten square metres of sand which gives you an insight into the natural wildlife that thrives in the area.
This was the early morning start on first real day of Australian holiday, viewing are travelling from UK to Australia for Sunshine everyday on the first morning wake up it all clouded over, A little bit despondent and thinking to myself I could've stayed in the UK for this weather, so headed off to the beach kicking my heels huffing and puffing under my breath about the lack of sunrise.
So I was wondering along the beach and I came across this driftwood, so took a few sets of bracketed shots and death try to HDR, they just didn't come out well at all, Times the same goes if it doesn't turn out right make it a black and white: I don't know whether that's the saying or not I just make it up and it sounded good. And it is actually do have made into a black and white
